Compassion in Action Fund
All individual donations go to support our Compassion in Action Fund. This money pays for expenses that are not covered by other funding sources. It helps cover urgent needs of kids and families in crisis by providing much needed extras that help kids be kids and adults rebuild their lives.
Imagine this:
For a donation of just $100 you provide a prom ticket to let a teen experience a special right of passage that builds confidence and creates lasting memories with their peers. $50 pays for a pair of baseball cleats that allow a child to join their team, feel included, and fully participate in the game they love.
Example of times the fund has been used:

Seven-year-old Trinity* beamed with joy as she gripped the handlebars of her very first bike (bright pink with training wheels and a matching helmet) thanks to a gift from the Compassion in Action Fund.
For Trinity, who has faced a difficult year in foster care, this bike is more than just a toy, it’s a symbol of freedom, confidence, and childhood joy. With every wobble and laugh as she learned to ride, Trinity felt seen, supported, and celebrated. The Compassion in Action Fund made it possible for her to experience a moment so many children cherish, reminding her that kindness and community can turn dreams into reality.
The Compassion in Action Fund steps in when families face urgent needs that fall outside the reach of traditional assistance.
Kenny*, a 15-year-old boy, was left in pain and distress when his insurance wouldn’t cover the removal of outdated and broken orthodontic brackets. With no wires or rubber bands and missing pieces, his braces became a source of daily discomfort, affecting his self-esteem and mental health. His mother, living on a fixed SSDI income, couldn’t afford the cost, and other sources of support declined to help. Thanks to the Compassion in Action Fund, Kenny was able to access the care he needed and take a meaningful step toward both physical relief and emotional well-being.

The Compassion in Action Fund helps remove practical barriers that prevent families from accessing critical support.
In one case, the fund covered the cost to reinstate a parent’s driver’s license, an essential step toward stability. With reliable transportation restored, they were able to transport their family members to essential services, take their children to daycare, and keep important medical appointments. This kind of support empowers families to move forward and meet their daily needs with dignity.
Thanks to the Compassion in Action Fund, Katie* now has access to a special “egg chair” designed to support her emotional regulation.
This cozy, enclosed chair offers a calming space where she can retreat during moments of overwhelm. When behavioral outbursts become too much, Katie can sit inside, close the dome-like cover for privacy, and safely decompress. For a child navigating big emotions and frequent challenges, this chair is more than just a seat—it’s a sanctuary. It gives Katie a sense of control, comfort, and a peaceful way to reset, helping her build the coping skills she needs to thrive.
