Ladd Afterschool Program
Tucked inside Ladd Community Consolidated School, the Youth Service Bureau’s After-School Program has served local children from Kindergarten through 6th grade since 2004. Designed to be a safe and engaging space after the school day ends, the program supports about 20 students during the school year. Longtime instructors Nancy Piccatto and Julie Kobold create a welcoming environment where kids can learn, play, and grow.
Each afternoon, children arrive to find books, games, crafts, and themed activities like “Apple Week” or “Fall Fun Fest.” And holiday themed events throughout the year.
Older participants are encouraged to take on leadership roles, boosting their confidence and sense of responsibility. For children struggling with school or personal challenges, the extra attention and encouragement often lead to real improvement.
Parents value the program not just for its convenience, but for the peace of mind it brings. Funded through local fundraising, community grants, and support from Bureau County United Way, the program continues to thrive—thanks to the dedication of Nancy and Julie and the generosity of those who believe in its mission.
