Intact Family Services
Intact Family Services is a program funded by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services DCFS.
A DCFS referral is stressful time for a family, it means that someone in their child’s life is concerned about their welfare. It’s the role of DCFS to investigate and determine what is in the best interest of the child(ren).
Parents in that situation may be offered Intact Family Services to help support them in overcoming the challenges they are facing as a family and keep their children safely at home.
Families in the program work with a case manager and are offered a variety of services, based on their needs.
Those services may include job search support, parenting classes, substance use treatment, mental health counseling, budgeting classes, and much more. The YSB team tailors the program to meet the unique needs of each family.
Through the Compassion in Action Fund, we’re also able to provide practical support like help with a bill or a car repair.
Families who choose to work with this voluntary program consistently express how much it has had a positive impact on their lives.
“I am a single mother of two. I have been working with YSB for quite some time. This program has helped me tremendously. They have been very helpful with my son and his behavior problems. I have seen a huge improvement. They have also helped me with keeping my own life on track. I greatly appreciate all they have done for me. I wouldn’t change a thing about this program. Thank you to my caseworker. I appreciate her very much!”
