Gifts of Stock and Appreciated Assets
Donating stocks, bonds, or mutual funds that have increased in value is one of the most tax-smart ways to give. If you’ve held the asset for more than one year, you can:
Avoid capital gains tax on the appreciated value
Deduct the full fair market value of the asset from your taxable income
Make a larger impact at no additional cost to you
This type of giving can be an excellent strategy for donors looking to make a meaningful contribution while also reducing their tax burden.
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) from IRAs
Are you 70½ or older? You can make a tax-free donation to YSB directly from your IRA through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).
Benefits include:
Satisfying your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)
Reducing your taxable income—a QCD is not counted as income
Directly supporting youth programs while maintaining financial flexibility
QCDs are a smart way to give back while managing your retirement distributions. They allow you to fulfill your philanthropic goals and support YSB’s mission.
Donor Advised Fund (DAF) Grants
If you have a Donor Advised Fund, recommending a grant to YSB is an easy and impactful way to support our work.
